CBD | CANNABIDIOL “THE FAMOUS CBD”

In the past year, cannabidiol, or CBD, has become very popular. This component is the second most abundant in cannabis plants, meaning both marijuana and hemp. Known as a cannabinoid, it binds directly to receptors throughout the body. These receptors are part of the endocannabinoid system, which was isolated in 1992 by scientist Lumir Hanus and is the physiological system that works to establish and maintain good health. We have receptors in all parts of our body: in the brain, organs, tissues, glands, and immune system cells. This system greatly influences the nervous system, the immune system, and the body's organs; essentially, you can think of it as the system that connects the physical body with the mind.

Cannabinoids derived from the plant have been used medicinally for decades. However, the legality of the plant has sparked controversy in the debate surrounding its medicinal or therapeutic potential. CBD has been recognized as having medicinal applications by the World Health Organization. This organization explains the cannabinoid and its medical potential to the entire medical community. The results of this compound in helping to reduce inflammation and alleviate anxiety cannot be ignored. Many diseases are caused by inflammation, which can lead to pain and limited mobility. CBD comes in various forms: edibles, topical creams or ointments, capsules, pills, vapor concentrates, and flowers. As mentioned, this compound can be found in medical cannabis (marijuana) and hemp. There are several strains in medical cannabis dispensaries that are rich in CBD, such as Harlesin, Canna Tsu, and Cherry Wine, among others. There are also hemp strains, which are a type of Cannabis sativa plant cultivated and grown with a very low THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content. There are some hemp strains rich in CBD, but you'll typically find these products in manufactured form, such as concentrates, tinctures, edibles, topical creams or ointments, isolated concentrates, capsules, pills, and more. Isolated CBD concentrates are available and do not contain THC. There are also hemp extracts, also known as full-spectrum extracts, which, as the name suggests, contain all parts of the plant, whether cannabis or hemp. Concentrates can also contain variations of CBD and other cannabinoids like THC. Hemp oil is the oil extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. Some products are marketed as cannabis oil, so you should read the ingredients to see if they contain the components you're looking for. I recommend always looking for a hemp product that has passed laboratory tests, which can indicate its potency, components, and whether it's free of contaminants or pesticides. Start with a dose of 10 to 25 milligrams 2 or 3 times a day. Always start gently, as you can increase the dose, but never decrease it.
