CROPTOBER

For most people, October is Halloween. For outdoor cannabis growers in places like California, it's the month when the harvest begins. The summer conditions in that region are ideal for the flowering of our glorious plant, and it's customary for October and November to be the months of the best outdoor harvests in that area. Our plant takes between 60 and 70 days from flowering, depending on the strain, to reach maturity and its maximum medicinal potential.

This is where the famous name "CROPTOBER" comes from. Festivals are held and all the growers meet to teach and share their flowers and knowledge, while at the same time the outdoor growing season in these areas comes to an end, as winter approaches, bringing snowfall that makes outdoor cultivation impossible.

In Puerto Rico the story is different.

And, depending on the region, the way of working with the plants must be adapted according to the environmental conditions.

In other words, if we're going to work with plants that need temperatures below 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and we're in Puerto Rico, summer, or the months of May through September, isn't probably your best option.

Ideally, for plants that take two to four months to harvest, we should start in October.

This way, you'll be able to harvest a better product, since, during the four months, the plant didn't have to expend energy struggling to survive the excessive summer heat. And with two-month-old plants, you can have two harvests, since in our country, the months from October to February are the coolest. And remember that in Puerto Rico we always have the twelve hours of darkness we need for cannabis, although the relative humidity in our country always works against us.

However, be mindful of external and/or surrounding artificial lights, as any ray of light they receive, however small, will affect the plant's photoperiod.
