Incorporating good hygiene practices when consuming medical cannabis is essential to ensure a safe and healthy experience. In this segment of Health with Purpose, we bring you some key recommendations to help you enjoy cannabis responsibly and consciously. One vital lesson the last pandemic taught us was the importance of washing our hands frequently.
This small action has been shown to help reduce the spread of disease. A good practice you can adopt before coming into direct contact with cannabis is to wash your hands with soap and water, including under your nails, for at least 20 seconds. Another way to sanitize your hands is by using hand sanitizer, but only if your hands are not visibly dirty. It's important to know that this alternative method loses effectiveness after the third use; after that, it's necessary to wash your hands with soap and water.
Did you know that some germs can double their population on surfaces in less than 10 minutes? Do you clean and disinfect your utensils?
Another good practice for Integrar is to frequently clean the instruments you use for consumption. This will prevent cross-contamination between the instruments and your treatment.
What should you clean? Tray, grinder, glass accessories, dabber, vaporizer, mouthpieces, storage bag, etc. These parts can usually be cleaned with alcohol, water, and soap, but you should always check the manufacturer's recommendations to avoid damaging them.

Do you use medicated creams or ointments? Do you know how to remove the product without contaminating the contents? To remove the product from a bottle or tube cleanly and safely, it is recommended to use a dedicated spoon or spatula, preferably made of plastic or stainless steel. Using wooden utensils or those with a porous surface is not recommended, as they can quickly contaminate and degrade the product.
Do you use sublingual tincture or oil? Do you know how to use it without contaminating it? When using these products, avoid letting the dropper touch the inside of your mouth. If it does, clean it with soap and water, dry it, and place it back in the bottle. If you use capsules, a good practice to avoid contamination is to use the bottle cap as a dispenser and pour the capsule directly into your hand.
Why is it important to incorporate good hygiene practices when consuming cannabis? Because it significantly reduces product degradation and the chances of getting sick. These are just a few recommendations you can apply to your consumption routine.
Do you know of any other good practices for integration? We invite you to follow us on our social media channels to share your opinion and stay up-to-date with everything related to cannabis culture. Until next time!
