DAVID RODRÍGUEZ LOVE & VIBES “SIE7E”

At Sens Culture, we seek to expand our readers' minds, bringing them the experiences and stories of icons from Puerto Rico and the Cannabis Industry. In this edition, we interviewed our Puerto Rican friend, vegan activist, and musician of Reggae Roots & Native American music, David Rodríguez of SIE7E & the Islanauts, to learn more about his thoughts on cannabis in Puerto Rico and a bit about his life. What would you like to achieve, in the long and short term, that is of utmost importance to you? Whatever it is, what would it be? That's a complex question. On a personal level, I want to continue traveling and exploring the world with my wife. I want to see my children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren grow up. I would like to learn to be a farmer and grow everything I consume. To be happy. As an artist, I want to continue making music freely, both creatively and in terms of reach, music that doesn't depend so much on the current mechanisms for reaching people. The goal is the tour, to touch lives with the energy and message of the live concert. As a citizen of the planet, I would like to influence as many people as possible to question everything established by previous generations. The world is falling apart and we are part of that problem without knowing it (food industry, pharmaceutical industry, clothing industry, oil industry, communications, etc.). That's a topic for a very long conversation.

When you hear or read the word Cannabis, what do you feel? I feel tranquility. It automatically reminds me that we are connected to the planet, that we are not as individual as we think.

Your music speaks of love and good energy. Where are you headed with your music, and what do you hope to offer your audience? I'm finishing mixing the new album I recorded live with the guys (Sie7e & The Islanauts). It's psychedelic roots reggae with a singer-songwriter's touch. I'm very excited and grateful for what we're creating. I hope the public likes it as much as we do; it's the purest and most honest work I've done to date. What's your cannabis preference, and what are your preferred methods of consumption? Sativa, Indica, or Hybrid? For work, I prefer Sativa. It helps with my attention deficit and the anxiety that comes with "having to create something good." It helps me relax and have fun when I'm creating. For stress, Indica. Although I generally sleep very well, you also notice that you sleep deeply and wake up more rested. My favorite method of consumption is vaporizing the flower. Another method I sometimes use is eating the flowers, especially during a fast or meditation.

Have you experienced prejudice or limitations in your career for being a cannabis advocate? Yes. I've even had appearances and contracts canceled because of it. Unfortunately, there's still a lot of ignorance and misinformation.

How do you see cannabis in Puerto Rico , and what is your vision regarding its legalization and integration into our daily lives? Despite the ongoing misinformation and resistance, I feel that we have made significant progress in recent years and that many people are now understanding its medicinal power. I believe that the socioeconomic evolution of cannabis in Puerto Rico and the world is unstoppable. In the near future, people will consume it like any other medicinal plant without prejudice, thus moving away from the dangers posed by many chemical drugs. What we must prevent is such a healing and powerful plant as cannabis falling into the hands of unscrupulous companies that work with genetically modified organisms and only seek to exploit it economically (as has happened with food).

What message do you want to convey to young people and those who are still unfamiliar with cannabis and its benefits? Don't let yourselves be swayed by others' prejudices. Seek information, learn the history of how and why the plant was demonized. The world is controlled by a very small group that doesn't want people to awaken to this and other issues. We are living in a time when it's clear that most of what's established is false or distorted. If we are informed, we will cease to be the lucrative business we have been for generations. It's time for us to return to harmony with our planet and all its inhabitants. Thank you for your performance and beautiful vibes towards all living beings.
