Green Tips for a New Cannabis Era

Wepa, cannacoriii!

“Habemus Veranus Historicus” (We have a historic summer) because of the federal reclassification of the plant from Schedule I to Schedule III , which, despite the drawbacks, finally recognizes it as medicine . For the Puerto Rican cannabis industry, this would cushion the blow of the 280E tax, easing their financial burden, which in theory could lower product prices, among other things.

Here are my Green Tips for peak consumption in a new cannabis era:

1. Legalization Reclassification: Even with the changes at the federal level, the rules of the game remain the same (for now). Keep your licenses up to date; it's your only legal protection until the law is amended. Don't trust all "informative" cannabis content; consume within the law to avoid potential trouble.

2. Be ambassadors for the plant: Take advantage of your get-togethers to re-educate your doubtful friends. If they judge you for using cannabis for medical purposes, tell them straight: the federal government already recognizes its clinical and therapeutic value. Let's change minds through evidence, patience, and love. Remember: "The peace of mind that comes from knowing you lead with awareness and reason is the best terpene."

3. Beware of the "pharmaceuticalization" of cannabis: The change to Schedule III opens the door to foreign corporations that will surely want to monopolize the market, which, in my opinion, could be one of the downsides of all this. Let's protect cannabis cultivation and support local production that guarantees innovation and consistent quality.

4. Embrace change without losing the essence: Now, with this change, the FDA will surely be strict, demanding exact batch-by-batch consistency—something easy to achieve naturally in the flower. To treat chronic and severe conditions, the key for the future is learning to use dosage-controlled methods like tinctures and distillates to maintain a stable treatment with precise dosages, along with the flower, which remains the queen of fast relief thanks to the entourage effect , where all the plant's compounds (cannabinoids and terpenes) become the true medicinal powerhouse .

5. Watch out for the TSA (if you plan to fly low): Although the reclassification is a historic step, don't get too creative thinking you can just smuggle your medicinal cannabis (especially flower) through the airport like it's nothing. Even though the TSA has other more important priorities at the checkpoints , they still operate under strict federal law, and moving the plant between states is still illegal (for now). Forget that idea if you're traveling off the island this summer. Avoid embarrassing situations; leave your flower at home and/or consume local wherever you go on vacation, and be discreet (wink).

Chorus, I know we still don't have clear answers or anything settled about this new phase… But beyond the potential economic opportunities, or that our UPR could take the lead by spearheading scientific research and even creating “cannabis-centric” academic programs, essentially saving the institution, this is the moment to demand concrete proposals, like an official educational platform that combats stigma and misinformation on the island. Let's celebrate the plant as the legitimate medicine it is; because at the end of the day, what matters most is health and well-being .

I love you all so much! Cannacoach, OUT! #HappyMedikeitin
