Los Chinchillos del Caribe present “Simpático”, a cumbia that unites Puerto Rico and Mexico

The Puerto Rican music scene continues to expand its horizons with projects that embrace the fusion of rhythms and cultures. This time, Los Chinchillos del Caribe , Puerto Rico's only cumbia band, releases "Simpático," a single that marks the beginning of a new artistic phase and offers a preview of their upcoming album.

The production was handled by El Dusty (Dusty Oliveira) , a Latin Grammy-nominated producer known for collaborating with prominent figures in the Latin American music scene. The result combines the essence of rebajada cumbia, born in Monterrey, with urban influences and the unmistakable Puerto Rican flavor, reinforcing the "Cumbia Boricua" concept that the group has cultivated since its inception.

More than just a single, “Simpático” represents a declaration of identity. The song conveys an optimistic attitude in the face of adversity, while its music video, filmed in Santurce, highlights the urban and Caribbean aesthetic that distinguishes the band.

After sharing the stage with artists like Jowell & Randy and strengthening their presence in various Latin American countries, Los Chinchillos del Caribe are preparing for an international tour that will take their music to new stages this year.

With “Simpático”, the group reaffirms that cumbia continues to evolve and find new ways to connect generations and territories, demonstrating that Puerto Rico also has its own voice within this genre.
