THE SILENCE WE MUST BREAK

As a veteran of over 60 years, I have personally experienced the weight of the aftereffects that war leaves on those who served their country. In my case, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other conditions have been unwelcome companions in my life. Over the years, I have sought relief in a sea of prescription medications, but the true answer came from a source that many still consider controversial: cannabis.

Unfortunately, the narrative surrounding cannabis is dominated by the FDA, Big Pharma, and the DEA, who seem more interested in protecting their own interests than in addressing the needs of those who are truly suffering. The omission of patient testimonials, especially from veterans like myself, is a serious failing that we cannot allow to continue. It is imperative that our voices be heard, that the relief we have found in cannabis be acknowledged, and that our experience be valued.

Cannabis is not just a plant; for many of us, it's a vital tool that has offered relief where traditional medications have failed. The fight against the opioid epidemic and the alarming suicide rates among veterans cannot ignore the benefits this plant can offer. We need more people to know our stories, to understand the positive effects cannabis has had on our lives.

Cannabis advocates worldwide must unite and continue promoting the benefits of cannabis through interviews and testimonials. Every story shared is a step toward awareness, a brick in building a future where cannabis is seen not as an enemy, but as an ally in the pursuit of well-being. It's time the world listened to those of us who have found relief in this plant, because our lives depend on it.

It is crucial that we continue to raise our voices, share our experiences, and demand a change in the narrative. We cannot allow the lack of representation of patients like us to continue perpetuating the stigma surrounding cannabis. The health and well-being of millions of people worldwide are at stake, and it is our responsibility to fight for a future where everyone has access to options that provide relief.

So, to everyone reading this: listen to our stories, support the cause, and help break the silence that has lasted far too long. Together, we can build a path toward a more understanding and compassionate future. Cannabis has been a beacon of hope for me, and I firmly believe it can be for many more.
