Women Entrepreneurs in the Cannabis Industry: Success Stories and Challenges By Zulmi Sierra

In a sector traditionally dominated by men, the cannabis industry is seeing a surge in female leadership. Through creativity, boldness, and determination, these entrepreneurs are breaking stereotypes and leaving an indelible mark on this emerging field.

One of these bold pioneers is Ana María Gómez, founder of "Verde Esperanza," a Colombia-based company specializing in medicinal cannabis products. Faced with restrictive legislation and social stigma, Gómez was undeterred. Her persistence led her to create a thriving business and contribute to the normalization of the cannabis industry in her country. "The road wasn't easy," Gómez admits, "but every obstacle made me stronger and more determined to succeed."

In Mexico, we find Patricia Morales, who has become a leading figure in the field of medicinal cannabis. After battling cancer and discovering the benefits of cannabis in her own treatment, Morales founded Cannalivio, an organization that educates patients about the therapeutic use of the plant and provides high-quality products. Despite initial resistance, her organization has helped thousands of people live healthier lives.

In the United States, Jade Daniels, an African American entrepreneur, has worked tirelessly to overcome racial and gender barriers in the cannabis industry. Daniels founded Deep Green, an online store that sells a variety of cannabis and CBD products. Through her business, she has provided scholarships and initiatives to help other women of color enter and thrive in the cannabis industry.

In Puerto Rico we have several examples of women entrepreneurs that we will be mentioning in another article written exclusively for them.

These success stories showcase the power and resilience of women in an emerging and challenging sector. Through their leadership and entrepreneurial spirit, these women not only thrive but also pave the way for future generations of female entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry. Despite the obstacles, their influence and achievements serve as an inspiration to all women and a testament to the power of entrepreneurship.
