In May 2021, a new bastion was born in the medicinal cannabis industry. Cataleya, a venture that bears the name of a South American orchid, opened its doors for the first time thanks to a family vision and a mission focused on helping others.

The family patriarch, José Ortiz, was the catalyst for this initiative. With a blend of audacity and paternal love, José proposed a bold idea to his daughter, Fabiola Ortiz Álvarez: to create a business together, one that she would eventually own and manage. Although this involved a considerable sacrifice—returning to her native Puerto Rico—Ortiz's daughter accepted the challenge with a mixture of enthusiasm and determination.

The name Cataleya was chosen with particular affection. This South American orchid is one of the family matriarch's favorite flowers, and its beauty and uniqueness became the perfect representation of what the Ortiz family wanted their company to be.

From its first day of operation, Cataleya has remained true to its mission of helping people. Its current owner has always sought a purpose in life, and the opportunity to help people through the medicinal use of cannabis has become a vocation that fills her life with meaning and happiness.
