Tropical Autumn: When Hemp Feels at Home

In Puerto Rico, talking about autumn is a little different. Here, we don't necessarily pull our coats out of the closet or wait for the leaves to change color. Our autumn arrives with days that still have that Caribbean warmth, slightly more pleasant nights, and an almost natural invitation to slow down. It's the perfect season to reconnect with the small rituals that make us feel good. And that's where hemp comes in.

Hemp has found an interesting niche in lifestyle and personal care. Beyond the conversation surrounding the plant itself, its seeds and extracts have become popular ingredients in beauty and wellness products, especially due to their nutritional profile and their compatibility with routines focused on hydrating and caring for the skin.

And let's be honest: our Puerto Rican skin lives a long time. Sun, salt air, humidity, air conditioning, beach, pool… all of that is part of our daily lives. When September arrives and that feeling of a change of season begins, even though the thermometer says “endless summer,” we can take the opportunity to give it a little extra TLC.

Autumn can also be an attitude. It's that time of year when we start looking inward, organizing spaces, letting go of old habits, and creating new rituals. Why not make skincare one of them?

A relaxing shower after a long day. Body oil. A face mask. Soft music. A coffee or tea. Perhaps a tropical rainy afternoon in the background. You don't need to travel to New England to feel the autumnal mood; in Puerto Rico, we can create our own version, palm trees included.

Within this philosophy, hemp blends beautifully with a self-care routine that aims to feel natural and sensory. La Clandestina, a local brand producing small batches in Dorado, incorporates hemp into its facial and body care offerings and is committed to plant-based ingredients and more conscious practices.

To wrap up this season with a little Puerto Rican self-care, we recommend exploring Colita de Rana (Sana-Sana) Muscle Rub from La Clandestina. It's part of their hemp-based body collection and is designed to accompany those moments of relaxation and relief after an active day. Find it at laclandestina.skin .

Because perhaps that is our true tropical autumn: less rushing, more rituals, more connection with nature and a little more time for ourselves.

And if the weather doesn't change, let's change the mood!
