MERRY CHRISTMAS? | FROM THE PLANT | By: Sie7e

Okay, I promise I'm not trying to be a spoilsport... this writing is part of my process of trying to decipher what, to my good or bad understanding, is a happy Christmas.

Immediately words and concepts come to mind… some align and others conflict: tradition, consumerism, social pressure (physical and digital), love, validation, celebration, leisure, party, excess, contemplation, self-examination, frustration, rest, recovery, anger, resolution, planning, and we get to work and some plans are achieved and others teach us other unexpected things through the constant challenge of our expectations.

All that process, made up of words, has a main menu for each star-studded date celebrated, carefully interwoven with the tradition of sharing and celebrating with family, far from the noise of life… all good up to that point, until I notice that this menu always includes animal/environmental/and human race abuse as a base… totally normalized.

So I feel compelled to lovingly and respectfully invite you to a self-analysis of what you could try and create: an eco-conscious and cruelty-free version of each of your main dishes. It's quite possible that this will produce small positive changes, opening the door to more complete, genuine, and joyful celebrations. Free from suffering. I'm referring to us as a species.

Big hugs and happy holidays!

Note: As always, I encourage you to check out my Instagram; I have several highlights dedicated exclusively to veganism and plant-based lifestyles.

A supportive hug.
